Tennis Court Repairs Come in Under Planned Estimate, Result in Savings
(Bastrop) -- Tennis students at both Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School, as well as tennis enthusiasts in our community, will soon get to play on renovated courts. During its budget adoption in June of this year, the BISD Board of Trustees had set aside $215,000 to complete the repairs at both campuses.
The repairs include removing algae, leveling low-lying areas of the courts that hold water, filling cracked and bubbled areas, repainting the surfaces, and re-striping according to UIL regulation. The cost of the repairs will be just over $78,000, giving the district a savings of about $136,000 from its original set-aside amount.
“We are pleased that we are able to repair and resurface both tennis court facilities at BHS and CCHS for much less than originally anticipated and budgeted,” said Superintendent Steve Murray. “Contrary to what has been discussed on social media and in the paper, this is not part of the BISD bond package and has been part of the 2017-18 budget from the beginning.”
The district awarded the repair bid to ProTech Track & Tennis out of Tyler. The company is set to begin work on Monday, November 6. The renovation should take several weeks to complete.
Bastrop ISD is located 30 miles southeast of Austin and serves nearly 11,000 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Paige and other rural areas of Bastrop County.
